About Jen Pinkowski

Jen Pinkowski

If she had been born 150 years earlier or later, writer and photographer Jennifer Pinkowski might have been an explorer. She may have found strange goats on unclimbed peaks or made nice with Morks from another planet. For now Jennifer makes due by taking her job on the road. Jennifer devoted 2007 to writing and photographing for various publications as she traveled through China, Southeast Asia, India, the UAE, Turkey, and Eastern Europe. You can read about it, see it, and hear it at her blog or in the articles section.

Her work has appeared in such publications as The New York Times, Time.com, Discover, Archaeology, Business Traveler, Library Journal, and The Morning News, among others. Major dailies at home and abroad have picked up her stories, including the The San Francisco Chronicle, The International Herald Tribune, and The Sydney Morning Herald. From the archaeology of Vietnam's ancient imperial capital to the spiritual dimensions of your typical infomercial, Jennifer brings in-depth research, analysis, and wit to the subjects she covers. See her resume for more details.

Jennifer is also an experienced content writer and copy editor who has sharpened her quill at national consumer magazines, nonprofit institutions, and Fortune 100 companies.

She received her BA in creative writing and photography from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY, and her MS in magazine journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York City, where she won the 2001 Daniel Cohen Memorial Award for excellence in photojournalism.

When she's not wandering the world with her laptop, camera, and lip balm, Jennifer lives in Brooklyn, NY, with her husband, son and three shed-happy cats.
